EAST BAY
Sunday September 8 10:00 a.m.
Muslims of the East Bay invite everyone to join "A Walk for Remembrance and
Peace" at Oakland's Lakeside Park.
We will
gather at 10am at "The Pillars" on Lake Merrit and walk to the Islamic
Cultural Center (1433 Madison Street, Oakland) for a lively cultural program of performances, speakers, artisans, and food.
This is an event organized by the Islamic Cultural Center of Northern
California, American Muslims Intent on Learning and Activism (AMILA), and
United for Peace organizations, for everyone to share in their hopes for
peace and remembering the ones lost during Nine-Eleven.
The tragedy of 9/11 changed many lives and continues to have profound
effects on the daily lives of many in America and across the world. This
march is a wonderful way of making a strong statement to remember the
victims of 9/11, and for justice and peace in America and across the globe
as well as bringing the community together.

"Our Grief Is Not a Cry for War: Bay Area United for Peace"
A broad coalition of East Bay peace groups have come together to sponsor a
vigil in Oakland's Lakeside Park, in memory of the victims of September 11,
2001, and for all victims of the ongoing cycle of violence.
We will meet at
"The Pillars" at Lake Merritt in Oakland at 7:00pm, Tuesday September 10, to
make Peace Lanterns with remembrances of those lost and our hopes for a
peaceful future, and to join in a walk around the lake. Participants are
encouraged to wear white, and to bring names, photos, or images to
incorporate in the memorial.
